REASNOR FIBER TO THE HOME PROJECT HAS STARTED!

In partnership with the FCC and the Alternative Connect America Cost Model, part two (ACAM II), Reasnor Telephone company has started the process of building out Fiber to the Home (FTTH) for the Reasnor Rate Center. FTTH will provide superior home and business internet options with speeds and packages that will range from 25/25 up to 1000/1000. Reasnor has built out for dual connection points to the Iowa Fiber Ring in an attempt to have redundant services available for the best opportunity to limit outages and will break ground to bring FTTH for the residents of the Reasnor Rate Center in April of 2022.  The project is expected to take up to eighteen (18) months to reach 100%, weather and material availability permitting. Reasnor has recently submitted an application to request assistance from the state of Iowa through the Empower Rural Iowa Broadband Grant Program Notice of Funding Availability #007 (NOFA 7) to speed up the process, however, when Reasnor applied for assistance in NOFA 6, the Office of The Chief Information Officer determined the “need” in Reasnor was low and no assistance was granted causing a delay in the start of the project. If you are able to send letters to your elected leadership to explain the needs in Reasnor, it may help the evaluation in NOFA #7 by the Office of The Chief Information Officer.
